Fazenda do Sertão has been a coffee producer since 1973, starting to produce specialty coffees in 2012 due to its great potential for being located in one of the best coffee-producing regions of Brazil. On its first time cultivating specialty coffees after the installation of modern machinery for the processing, the farm produced coffees with a rating of up to 93 points in the cup test.
Seedlings of varieties produced at EPAMIG in Três Pontas were planted (Catuai Amarelo, Catuai Amarelo 62, Yellow Catucaí 2SL, and Yellow Topázio) resistant to pests and diseases, with good grain yield and quality. To ensure that a quality drink will be obtained, the stages are monitored under the guidance of an agronomist who decides the treatments of cultural and plant health based on soil and foliar analysis annually.
From May to August, the grains are harvested to benefit the ones separated from the cherry grains that will become the best drinks. Fazenda do Sertão has a privileged location in Carmo de Minas, South of Minas Gerais, with crops planted from 900 to 1200 meters altitude.
